I guess it was early 2010 when the Apple tablet came out. I suggested they should call it the Tapplet, but they didn’t listen to me. :O
So this feminine toiletry was going to save the news industry, eh? As far as I can tell, the only people who actually bought one were people who were employed in the news industry.
That seems to be a recurring theme over the past couple years: The news industry seems to think it can keep itself alive by reading about itself and also writing commentary about itself. Where have all the readers gone?
Yes, they’re on facebook.com. Playing farmville.
Is anybody listening to them? Apparently not.
Do they care? No.
Have the workers in chinese factories gone on strike?
People will wake up as soon as the stuff they import costs more than it used to. Oil will soon break through $100 per barrel, and higher prices for oil will probably increasingly put upwards pressure on other imported goods, too.
But back to the news world.
Since we now know that no one outside of the news industry pays attention to the news, how will large corporations be able to sell their goods? If you said they will create “casual” and “educational” games, then you get a point for being an astute thinker… but exactly who will pay and how is the far more interesting question — and so far I don’t see a clear answer on the horizon.
Maybe wikileaks will have an answer?
OK, here’s a game for you: Vote for your favorite New Year’s song!
